actions

Divers-Gens organizes several activities, first of all to offer a support network to youth in the community, but also to raise awareness in different living environments and to fight against homophobia and transphobia. The majority of these actions are free. Our activities are offered by qualified and trained people. Please note that customized or off-territory workshops are not included in the free admission.

Youth Direct Support

The direct support given by the organization to young questioning or identifying as 2SLGBTQIA+ people is offered in different formats.

Individual support

We support young people and their families in discovering their sexual orientation or gender identity. These meetings are a resource for helping relationships and not for therapy. The goal is not to make a diagnosis, but to ensure a presence in times that can be difficult. We also can guide you towards other types of resources.

Lunchtime discussion

Our team travels to high schools to talk with young people during lunch hours. We are open to talking about all sorts of topics, from youth's interests, gender expression and orientation, etc. We offer them a safe place to express themselves and ask their questions. These activities are open to everyone.

Support and/or discussion group

Our support and/or discussion groups bring together diversity youth so they can discuss with people similar to them and going through similar difficulties and successes. Whether it is to talk about everyday situations, to discuss their experiences or to obtain support, our team is there. It is also possible to set up a group for parents.

Gender Affirmation Articles (GAA)

Thanks to the precious help of our partners, we are able to offer a range of gender affirmation articles, which we can present to you during our workshops and events. In addition, it is also possible to obtain some of these items, with a voluntary contribution, up to your means.

Youth Indirect support

The purpose of this support is to form a network of allies who will be able to intervene with people from the 2SLGBPTQIA+ community, to support and defend them by offering them access to quality training.

Training for professionals working with youth

This training, in practical and/or theoretical form, aims to highlight the different realities of the community in order to know the actions to take and to avoid in different situations. Using scenarios, the professionals will be able to deepen their knowledge in order to be more comfortable answering questions related to the 2SLGBPTQIA+ community.

Raising awareness in different environments

Raising awareness in different environments aims to form, among peers, a network of allies using educational activities.

Educational activities

We adapt our animation activities and our material to different environments; classes, youth centers, etc. We can discuss different topics of the 2SLGBPTQIA+ community such as: the different terms, the difference between gender identity, gender expression, romantic orientation and sexual orientation, myths and realities, history of struggles, stereotypes, etc. Contact us to tell us about your community's needs.

We also offer this service, free of charge, for primary age youth in collaboration with Projet hippocampe.

Our fight against homophobia

Each of the actions taken by the organization helps to fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

«Do you have your bracelet?»

Every year, we are lucky enough to hold our famous “Do you have your bracelet?” campaign. We travel to different places throughout Quebec to distribute our bracelets. Wearing these bracelets demonstrates your commitment to the fight against discrimination based on gender identity and/or sexual orientation.

Awareness booth

Going out to meet and discuss with the population through our awareness kiosks. We are present at various community events as well as in schools to raise awareness and demystify the issues faced by people in the 2SLGBPTQIA+ community.

Representation

It is essential for our organization to be present at round tables, during working committees and in media interventions. Our goal is to report on the needs and interests of 2SLGBPTQIA+ youth. We ensure that this reality is not overlooked or misinterpreted.
